Madagascar Mountain Biking 13 Days -
Madagascar
On arrival in Madagascar we take some time to explore the Capital City Antananarivo which feels more like a huge village than a captal of 1.4 million people.. As we leave the Capital, we ride south through villages and small towns, passing many rice fields along the way. We stop frequently at places of interest – these are great opportunities to get to know Madagascar’s culture and history a little better. We continue to cycle, following alongside a large river - eventually reaching the basin of Ranomafana, where we visit the well known nature reserve with its wide variety of lemurs, orchids and ferns. In this rain forest the Golden Bambus Lemur was discovered in 1997.
The route from Fianarantsoa via Ihosy to Tulear is reasonably well maintained. We stop on the way, as the full day excursion to the Isalo National Park is well worthwhile just for it’s rugged mountain scenery. Before flying from Tulear back to Antananarivo, we have a couple of days of pure relaxation at the beautiful beach of Iftay.
