"Malawi? Where the heck is Malawi," you ask. Well that maybe because until 1964 it was known as Nyasaland. Still not sure?
Malawi is a magic country in the middle of Southern Africa bordering on Mozambique, Zambia and the 580km long Lake Nyasa. The capital on Lilongwe rules the democratic land of 12 million people and resides across the natural resources and people.
As with most of Africa the mix of poverty and wealth is an integral part of the landscape as is the boarder between the wildlife and civilization.
To cycle and hike in Malawi is not only a great way to appreciate the country its also a much needed boost to the local communities coffers. Even though they have so little the caring and giving nature makes you wish you could help out more.
Malawi offers much more than a safari trip and vast flat tundra’s, it has a unique richness of Lake Nyasa which nourishes the local inhabitants and wildlife and makes a visitor feel refreshed and alive.
If your after an African experience with a difference then look no further than Malawi, its calling your name.
