DAY 1

Arrival Day: Kathmandu (1350 m a.s.l)

Welcome to Kathmandu! We will be at the airport to meet you and take you to your hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city. The rest of the afternoon is free for last-minute checking of your bikes or just taking in the sights and sounds of this unique and bustling ancient city. Tonight, we'll meet up over a welcome dinner and discuss the days ahead.

Meals: Dinner

DAY 2

Kathmandu

There's a saying that in Kathmandu, there are more temples than houses and more gods than people. Today you'll visit temples (and gods) by bike both within Kathmandu and in Patan city, in the Kathmandu Valley, an important pilgramage area for Buddhists and Hindus. The valley contains 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We'll keep a leisurely pace. You'll see architecture old and new, colourful tribal and caste groups, and market places. To make the day even more fun, try an old-school Indian bike and get around like the locals do — in single-speed!

Meals: None

DAY 3

Kathmandu to Danda Gaun

Time for our first serious riding day. We'll leave Kathmandu via winding paths and lanes few visitors see, passing villages and rice fields to Kakani (2075 m), with stunning views to the Himalayan Range. Next, Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, in the subtropical/temperate transition zone. You'll see pines, oaks and rhododendrons. Himalayan black bears, leopards, deer and rhesus monkeys are also here, as are 177 bird species. We'll ride one of Nepal’s most famous single trails almost all the way to our hotel in Danda Gaun, a small ethnic Tamang village.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 4

Danda Gaun to Mul Karka

Today we start with 1 km climb to a great single trail, known as '30 Minutes in Heaven'. It lives up to its name! Then we climb for a few kilometres. On our way we can visit the famous Buddhist Ani Gompa (nunnery), Nagi Gompa. Staying high on the ridge we maintain our altitude for the day, but with plenty of ups and downs. For riders seeking more great single trail, the 'Helipad ride' is a great optional extra. However, it does mean you'll have a climb at the end of the day to reach our guest house.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 5

Mul Karka to Chisapani

Today we'll set off on small jeep trails, circling the Shivapuri Peak (2400 m). This is a great ride on forested trails. If you come in Spring, there's the added appeal of rhododendrons in bloom framing the stunning Himalayan peaks that are on full display as we enter Chisapani. This little, modern village is on the way to the famous Helambu trekking area. We'll stay the night here in a lodge.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 6

Chisapani to Nagarkot

Today, a long off-road downhill ride to Jarsing Pauwa is an exhilarating start to the morning. We will stop for a picnic lunch to fuel our legs for the winding uphill trail to the hilltop village of Nagarkot (2170 m), a popular viewing point on the Kathmandu Valley rim. From your hotel balcony you'll have great views of terraced paddy fields, deep river valleys and high Himalayan Peaks. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a beverage and watch the sunset.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 7

Nagarkot to Kathmandu via Panauti

Set a date for a hearty breakfast in the company of some of the tallest and most beautiful mountains on Earth. A good mix of on- and off-road tracks will lead you through villages and rice fields to Panauti at the confluence of 2 rivers. Many stories are told of Buddha's visit here. Next, a 15 km ride through a valley to Lakuri Banjyang, and another amazing vista on the mountains. It's amazing how different the mountains look from different locations. In the late afternoon we'll arrive back in Kathmandu in time for a quick shower, before heading out to celebrate our adventures.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
