As you cycle through the the countryside you'll see reclaimed land alternating with natural canals, fishermen's huts camouflaged in the reeds, and bridges formed from boats, linking strips of sand.

Your home away from home is the comfortable 'Vita Pugna', a converted Dutch barge. The tour is entirely flat, with easy cycling on riverside and canal paths. The boat will take you to some destinations, and often you'll dine onboard.

Biking and boating is relaxing and so appropriate for this unique part of Italy. Come and join us!

Giudecca Island is known for its dock and its churches, and is fast becoming an exclusive residential area. Your comfortable cabins with ensuite bathrooms on board your floating hotel Vita Pugna will be available from 4 pm. Dinner starts at 7 pm, and here you'll meet your tour leader and crew.

Meals: Dinner

DAY 2

Venice

No cycling

You have the whole day to discover Venice at your leisure — an unforgettable experience. Wake up to a wonderful view over the Venice Lagoon. Explore the unique historic centre of the capital of the 'Republica Serenissima' or its fascinating islands, easily reached by water taxi.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 3

Venice to Chioggia

Cycling: 30 km

Today is one of the most exciting days of the tour, cycling along the two little narrow islands which border the Adriatic Sea and the lagoon. From Lido, an impressive resort town and home of the annual Venice film festival, you'll bike up to Malamocco, the first seat of the republic of the Doges, the leaders of Venice for more than 1000 years. A short boat ride will take you to the isle of Pellestrina with its nature reserve of Ca'Roman. After a final few kilometres on your bike, the boat will transfer you to the lively fishing port town of Chioggia.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 4

Chioggia to Albarella

Cycling: 35 km

This morning you'll depart Chioggia, often called 'small Venice', because of its canals, narrow streets and churches. You'll head south along the Po-Brondolo waterway and to the mouth of the River Adige. After pedaling through the wonderful nature reserve of the Po Delta with its diverse bird life, you'll arrive at the exclusive island of Albarella.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 5

Albarella to Porto Levante to Adria

Cycling: 50 km

Today you will travel further into the deep maze of the Po Delta, with wonderful scenery and wildlife all around you. Your destination today is the town of Adria, once a Greek port famous for trading in Baltic amber.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 6

Adria to Ferrara to Zello

Cycling: 35 km (+35 km by bus)

After a short boat ride in the morning, you start cycling towards Ferrara, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ferrara is surrounded by beautifully preserved city walls. It is known as 'the city of bicycles', more than 90% of local people own one, and the city centre is car-free. This afternoon, a short bus transfer will take you to the nearby village of Bergantino to visit a cheese factory. After a tasting session we will continue on to Zello.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 7

Zello to Mantova

Cycling: 50 km

A short cycle ride leads you to pretty Torretta on the Fissero/Bianco canal. Then, cycle alongside the River Po as far as Ostiglia, an ancient trade hub, which also has ruins of a medieval fortress. After a few more kilometres you'll finally reach Mantova (also known as Mantua), one of the most beautiful Renaissance towns of Northern Italy. Mantova is one of Italy's centres of culture, art and music, particularly opera. In Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet', it was the town to which Romeo was banished.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

DAY 8

Departure Day: Mantova

Your tour ends this morning after breakfast, unless you have booked post-tour nights. You'll leave with amazing memories of your biking and boating holiday.
